Building a Modern Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Wellness Center

Help us care for and empower a growing patient population. It's our greatest need.

The Power of Cardiopulmonary Rehab

Cardiac and pulmonary rehab are among the most effective treatments available after serious heart or lung illness.

  • Patients who complete cardiac rehab have about one-third fewer hospitalizations.
  • For people with heart failure, rehab reduces the combined risk of death or another hospital stay by nearly one-quarter.
  • Most patients in pulmonary rehab walk farther, breathe easier, and report a better quality of life. About 60–65% of patients see meaningful improvements. Those who start out the sickest often see the greatest gains.
  • Pulmonary rehab reduces hospital readmissions by about 50% after a COPD flare-up.

The evidence is clear: when patients have access to rehab — and the support to stay engaged — outcomes improve and lives change.

Greatest Need

For cardiac and pulmonary patients, recovery doesn’t end when they leave the hospital. The weeks that follow — the time spent regaining strength, confidence and independence — are often the most critical part of healing.

Help us transform the aging Cardiopulmonary Rehab Gym at Methodist Hospital into a modern Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Wellness Center.

These updates are needed now to improve safety, reduce barriers to care, and meet the growing demand for rehabilitation services.

Because of you, our patients will receive medically guided rehab in a space that reflects the level of excellence they deserve.

Key Enhancements:

  • Larger floorplan to reduce wait times and serve more patients

  • New, reliable equipment to replace outdated treadmills and bikes

  • Smarter layout and dedicated zones for cardio, strength training, stretching, yoga, tai chi and nutrition counseling

  • Enhanced medical monitoring for safer guided recovery and optimal progress

  • Expanded virtual rehab capability to help patients safely continue their recovery from home when weather, distance or health conditions make in-person visits difficult

  • Long-term wellness programming to support graduates in maintaining healthy, active lives

Impact of Your Gift

Your support will directly impact nearly every cardiac patient we serve along with those managing chronic pulmonary disease and lifelong respiratory conditions.

Rehab isn’t a nice extra for them; it’s a necessary part of treatment — one that can mean the difference between lasting recovery and repeated hospital stays.

Investment: $1.2–$1.8 million

More than a renovation, this is an investment in safety and healing. To learn more or discuss giving opportunities, contact Methodist Hospital Foundation at 402-354-4825.

Help Patients Take the Next Step in Recovery

Cardiac and pulmonary rehab are challenging enough. When space is tight, equipment breaks down or class times are limited, patients can lose motivation. And when they miss rehab, they miss recovery. Your support ensures they never have to.
