In this Q&A, Natalie shares why giving back is personal and how her own cancer journey fuels her commitment to women throughout our communities.
What drives the Natalie Simmonds Foundation’s commitment to giving back to the community?
"The Natalie Simmonds Foundation is rooted in a deep belief that every woman deserves access to life-saving healthcare, compassionate support, and a chance to reclaim her power — regardless of her circumstances. My own cancer journey illuminated how many women are forced to fight not just disease, but also the system. Giving back is both personal and purposeful. It’s my way of saying: 'You are not alone.' No woman should have to navigate this alone or be silenced when her body is speaking."
What inspired you to become a women’s health sponsor?
"When something suspicious showed up on my mammogram, I was told it was likely just a benign lymph node and advised to wait six months for a follow-up. But I had a gut feeling that wasn’t good enough — and I advocated for an MRI. That test revealed invasive breast cancer. I often think about how different my outcome could have been if I hadn’t spoken up. That moment lit a fire in me to ensure other women don’t have to fight so hard to be taken seriously. Being a women’s health sponsor is my way of helping create a world where women are heard, believed, and given the care they deserve without delay."
How do you hope your support will impact women throughout our communities?
"I hope our support opens doors — to diagnosis, to treatment, to self-advocacy, and to healing. Whether it’s a mammogram on wheels or a welcoming space like Women Connect, I want women to feel seen and supported. I also hope it sparks deeper conversations around mental health, body image, and resilience. Women are expected to be everything to everyone — let this be a moment when we are everything to each other."
What makes you most proud about partnering with Methodist on projects like Mobile Mammography and Women Connect?
"I’m proud to be aligned with an organization that leads with empathy and action. Methodist doesn’t just talk about improving women’s lives — they build programs that meet women where they are physically and emotionally. And they listen. That’s powerful. Whether it’s screening in an underserved area or hosting an event that invites joy and vulnerability, I know this work is changing lives."
