Your Methodist Legacy
A Legacy of Caring. A Commitment to Methodist.
For Andrew Coughlin, MD, Methodist is more than where he works. It's a place he believes in.
“It's the team that makes the difference,” says the Methodist head and neck surgical oncologist.
Dr. Coughlin sees that commitment firsthand — from nursing care he calls “second to none” to the ongoing collaboration and expansion of services at Methodist Estabrook Cancer Center.
He’s also grateful for the direct impact philanthropy has on his patients. Support from Methodist Hospital Foundation donors includes gas vouchers that help patients get to appointments, books for a cancer support group and home medical equipment that aids recovery.
“Alleviating that burden for so many of our patients is really important,” he says.
Now, Dr. Coughlin and his wife, Jennifer, are helping ensure Methodist can continue providing exceptional care for generations to come. They've included Methodist Hospital Foundation in their estate plans, extending a family tradition of giving back. Their children once collected donations for the Foundation instead of birthday gifts.
“We take a close look at the important things in our lives,” Dr. Coughlin says. “If something happened to us today, where would we want our money to go? Certainly, Methodist means a lot to me and my family. I believe in a place that takes really good care of patients.”
Through their estate gift, the Coughlins are helping strengthen the people, programs and compassionate care that make Methodist special—today and well into the future.
